What we collect
We collect the information you provide when creating an account: your name, email address, and password (stored as a secure hash — we never see your actual password). We also store the financial data you enter into the app: account names, balances, income items, and expense items. We do not collect bank account numbers, routing numbers, or any credentials for financial institutions.
What we do not collect
We do not connect to your bank or any financial institution. We do not collect your Social Security number, government ID, or any sensitive identification information. We do not track your location. We do not serve advertising and have no advertising partners.
How we use your information
Your information is used solely to provide the My Safe-To-Spend service to you. We use your email address to send account-related communications such as email confirmation, trial expiry reminders, and item reminders you have opted into. We do not use your data for marketing purposes or share it with third parties for their marketing.
Data storage and security
Your data is stored securely using Supabase, a managed database platform. All data is encrypted at rest and in transit. Each household's data is strictly isolated — no other user can access your information. We use Row Level Security to enforce data boundaries at the database level.
Household data sharing
If you invite a household member, they will be able to see and interact with the same financial data you have entered. You control who is invited to your household. You can manage household members from your settings page.
Data retention
Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. If your trial expires and you do not subscribe, your transaction data is preserved for 180 days, after which it is permanently deleted. Your email address is retained indefinitely to prevent abuse of the free trial. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us.
Email communications
We send transactional emails related to your account: email confirmation, password reset, trial expiry reminders, and billing notifications. We also send item reminders for items you have individually opted into. You can opt out of item reminders at any time from the dashboard. Transactional account emails cannot be disabled as they are necessary for the operation of the service.
Third-party services
We use the following third-party services to operate My Safe-To-Spend: Supabase for database and authentication, Vercel for hosting, and Resend for email delivery. Each of these services has their own privacy policies governing how they handle data processed on our behalf.
Cookies and sessions
We use cookies solely to maintain your login session. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or analytics cookies. You can clear cookies at any time through your browser settings, which will log you out of the service.
Your rights
You have the right to access the data we hold about you, correct inaccurate data, and request deletion of your account and associated data. To exercise these rights, contact us through the information provided on our website.
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes by email. The date at the top of this page reflects when the policy was last updated.
